George Gallup, born in Jefferson, Iowa, in 1901, dedicated his life to asking questions to learn about people.

Gallup's Ancestry and Iowa
George Gallup's forbearers, after arriving in America in 1630, lived for eight generations in Stonington, CT. It was Gallup's grandfather, John
Gallup, who moved from Voluntown, which is near
Stonington, to Mendota, IL where he joined the Northern Arm, and then after the Civil war, came eventually to the town of Jefferson.

George Gallup received many awards and recognition over the years for his contributions.
